Megan Howell, MS, is the Executive Director and Founder of Second Heart Homes, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2019 with a mission to provide permanent housing solutions for individuals with mental illness who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness.

Inspired by her encounter with a severely mentally ill man who had endured homelessness for 25 years, Megan Howell embarked on a mission to tackle homelessness in her community. Megan's dedication to serving marginalized populations fueled her pursuit of a Master’s degree in Science in Psychology. With a background in supporting individuals facing various challenges, including developmental disabilities and mental illness, Megan's commitment transcends borders. She conducted in-depth research on homelessness in Japan, immersing herself in the streets of Tokyo for firsthand insights. Megan's unwavering dedication to ending homelessness is evident through her leadership role on the SunCoast Partnership to End Homelessness council, where she guides community policies and strategies toward meaningful change.

Second Heart Homes stands out for its client-centered approach, prioritizing mental health, and providing affordable, supportive housing that integrates accountability and community engagement. Through workshops, conflict resolution strategies, and skill-building initiatives, Megan and her team actively involve clients in identifying and implementing solutions tailored to their unique circumstances. The organization's emphasis on community integration and dignity restoration sets it apart, fostering independence and purpose among individuals who have historically been marginalized or underserved.
